I need general information concerning car insurance complanies that pay claims directly to the driver. They want me to absorb all costs (repairs, rental, etc.) and then they will issue me a "reimbursement" check. I don't want reimbursed for something that their insured driver did to me. I just want them to cover all costs associated with the claim. What, if any, legal action can I take to have the matter proceed in my favor?

I just bought a 2009 Honda Civic EX. I've checked various quotes online based on my info, and they range near the $2000 (sometimes, just a 6 month policy). I just checked progressive, and it estimated a quote near the $1380 a year, that is $689.90 (6 month policy). It's a BIG difference, that's why I want to know what I'm getting into, any inputs???
When I say I've checked various quotes I meant from different insurance companies: Allstate, AAA, Statefarm, 21st Century….
just wondering how much will my car insurance go up if i file a claim?? there was no injuries and no damage to the other partys car. my car was estimated $4000 of damage to fix..
I just bought a car last week (new). I've been getting online quotes from various insurance companies. Some local ones are way out of my budget (some ranging around $2000 for a 6 month policy). I've found one I'm interested in but the location is all the way in San Diego, Ca while I'm up in Berkeley, Ca. That means I need a plane ticket to personally speak w/ an agent. I'm not into the phone calls, it seems the prices increases.
The insurance company is Progressive, I've checked customers reviews, some good some bad. Pretty much it seems all insurance companies are the same. Customer reviews say the same, from Statefarm to progressive, it depends on luck I guess.
I was the driver in my friends car. She was sitting by my side (usually I am the driver, she the passenger). We backed into a pole. When that happened, she said if there is any damage your insurance company has to pay, I said, since it was her car and she gave me permission to drive it, her insurance would be responsible first, before my insurance.
It ended up a non-issue since there wasn't any damage.
But if there was, who's insurance company would be first repsonsible, the car owners or the drivers? thx.
from the answers so far, are we saying that the car owner's insurance coverage (both collision and liability) kicks in first no matter what. So, hypothetically, if I was the driver, driving her car and I ran over someone's foot, her auto insurance would kick in before my auto insurance? thx again.
My car got hit and the insurance is sending a check made out to me. I know it's not right, but how can you just cash the check and keep the money? Will they actually check up to see if I got the car repaired?
I am getting sued for 40,000 over a car accident from 2 years ago. I was driving a car in someone else's name and they had full coverage and it should have paid him. I dont understand why he has chosen to sue me as well. I dont have anything. I am a single mother who is looking for a second job. Do I need to hire a lawyer?
